Due to severely low water levels in Lake Corpus Christi and the Choke Canyon Reservoir, the City of Corpus Christi has moved into Stage 3 water restrictions. These measures are designed to protect the city’s remaining water supply during one of the most critical droughts in recent history.
Under Stage 3, all outdoor watering—including hand-held hose use—is off-limits. Washing cars at home and running decorative fountains are also prohibited. However, residents can still use commercial car washes (which recycle water), maintain swimming pools for equipment function, and hand-water potted plants or food gardens on assigned days.
The city has ramped up enforcement, and violators may now face fines or even have their water shut off after repeat offenses. In addition to restrictions, city officials are working on long-term solutions, including expanding pipeline capacity and tapping into alternative water sources.
